Mohou být Lyotardovy "rozepře" inspirací nové metodologie ve ve společenských vědách?

O. Čapek

E-LOGOS 2001, 8(1)

Be able to be Lyotard's "Litiges" inspiration for new methodology in social sciences? In first part of my work I describe shortly position of postmodern philosophy in two aspects: postmodern apprehension of knowledge and apprehension of history. In my opinion in both apprehensions play most important role some form of power (or duress), which create "the truth". Without the power of social (or some other) structure exist infinite equal stories. The hstory in postmodern thought is chain of causes of power use, which produce concept of subjectivity. In history (or in space) exist many of these concepts and we cannot compare its.In main part I...

Morální filosofie Adama Smitha

O. Čapek

E-LOGOS 2001, 8(1)

In article I describe conception of moral philosophy of Adam Smith. Smith divides philosophy in two parts: moral philosophy and philosophy of science. In moral philosophy Smith wants suppress Plato's concept of morality based on philosophical rationality. Smith's conception is based on reality of passion. Two sorts of passions exist: bodily passions and imaginative passions that could be create only inside society. Human beings without society cannot be "human". Everybody must "learn" contacts with others in childhood.Smith doesn't give any conception of source of human passions (like God in neoplatonic sense). People can be conduct by his passions...

Doctor of Tomorrow - Physician, Psychologist, Philosopher: towards the Cosmist-hippocratic Ethics in Biomedicine

K.S. Khroutski

E-LOGOS 2001, 8(1)

Firstly, it is argued that contemporary medicine (and philosophy of medicine) is in a state of crisis, for, they are incapable to comprehend and to explain the substance of individual's health and the etiology (individual etiogenesis) of contemporary chronic non-infectious diseases (diseases of civilization). Henceforth, following the basic thesis of Prof. Edmund D. Pellegrino (which pushes forward the requirement in "some comprehensive philosophical underpinning for medical ethics"), here is originally advanced a new framework of ontological assumptions, called as 'Absolute Cosmist Wholism'. Further, due to the taken hypothetical-deductive method...

E-LOGOS 2001, 8(1)

The questions of human freedom, order of nature and orderliness of human society become disturbed continuously human minds. Today these questions are even more urgent in our disturbed world. This article deals with one proposition of famous Dutch philosophers B.Spinoza which occurs in his main work "Ethics": "Consequently, those who believe that they speak, or are silent, or do anything else from a free decree of the mind, dream with their eyes open."Very interesting and provoking proposition can be a good starting point of the considerations regarding recent discussions about mentioned problems and their ethical dimensions. The main matter...

On Hayekian "False Individualism" and its New Sources

J. Pavlík

E-LOGOS 2001, 8(1)

According to Hayek, false individualism postulates the existence of isolated or self-contained individuals whereas the true one starts from men whose whole nature and character is determined by their existence in society. Apart from such form of false individualism as "constructivist rationalism" described by Hayek there exist various other forms of it, namely irrationalistic false individualism (which can be found in all versions of existentialism) and especially that form of false individualism which is a necessary consequence of post-modernism with its basic creed ANTHROPOS METRON PANTON.

Je Methodenstreit minulostí?

D. Štastný

E-LOGOS 2001, 8(1)

In the first part, and on the general level, the article defends the methodological dualism of rationalism against much more fashionable methodological monism of empiricism-positivism, and shows why the latter must be considered self-contradictory and thus fallacious. In the second part, applying the rationalist position in the field of economics, it shows that economics, its subject of inquiry being action of man, should use a deductive method to arrive at apodictically true propositions. Since, on the contrary, the current mainstream economics uses almost exclusively (but fallaciously) the positivist (inductive) method, the article evaluates the...

Conceptual Systems - an Attempt at System Noetics / Discover Yourself

J. Janata

E-LOGOS 2001, 8(1)

Current failure to disprove skeptical and agnostical notions in philosophy leads to the conclusion that reality is the main target of our intellectual effort, but it is directly inaccessible in its absolute essence. We have therefore no option but to approach it by subjective means. Therefore even philosophy cannot build on objectivist, dogmatic notions, but on subjectivism and relativism, and understand reality not as a source but as a target or main direction of our intellectual effort. This notion is developed into system noetics, which understands thinking as controlling of a conceptual system by its subject, where the subject creates and controls...
